Book Review: The Sun Is Also A Star, By Nicola Yoon

If you pull back far enough and wait for long enough, then order emerges; because everything looks like chaos up close.

The most beautiful and attractive book cover I have seen in a  while. This one is a very interesting insight into how our minds in today’s world work. Even after reading the whole book, I was unable to fathom what the title exactly means, but anyhow, I love the cover too much to over-think about the book title.

The story is of a Korean-American boy, Daniel, who wants to become a poet but is forced to aim to become a doctor and, Natasha, an illegal immigrant whose family moved from Jamaica when her aspiring-to-become-an-actor-someday father decided to try his luck in the land of opportunities. They collide like two stars and the big bang happens; the poet inside Daniel  decides to fall in love with wanna-be Data Scientist Natasha. Opposite attract,

But time & distance are love’s natural enemies.

(which is actually so true!) and Natasha has few hours left before she has to leave the country, and Daniel is madly in love with her since the moment he saw her and there are just. too. many. complications in this short love story. The whole book is about Just One Day that Natasha and Daniel spend together and how they go from being complete strangers to lovers, while putting both poetry and science to test. Daniel is a poet at heart and Natasha believes Science and logic is her god. The attraction between them is remarkable, but

If you don’t care about the plot & story, and just want to enjoy some beautiful words that may resonate with the lover inside you, this one is for you.

The wordplay in this book is absolutely beautiful. I have more than 20 favourite quotes from this book alone. The author has put great effort in writing a great piece of art, but just like most love stories in 2017,

Love is just chemicals and coincidence.
